Site Evaluation Reflection
For my first site visit, I presented one case on a patient with schizoaffective disorder. My second site visit consisted of 2 H&Ps with a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, one journal article, and 5 drug cards. On my first site evaluation, I was told to be more conscious of the diagnoses put forth and not just accept it because the EMR says it or it has been the diagnosis in the past. Especially since many of these patients do not have good continuity of care and do not follow-up, some may have been given inaccurate diagnoses in an ER setting that was never reevaluated. Thus, on my second site visit, I put the existing diagnosis as number two on my list, with an alternate diagnosis as my primary differential based on my experience with the patient. In the future, I will do my own assessment and not rely/ fully accept what is in the EMR.
